- As Australia burns, another local artist steps up with a great EP fundraising for charity.
- Australia is burning, and its electronic music producers are trying to help. Like DJ Plead and Mall Grab, many are donating proceeds from special, one-off releases. The same goes for the mysterious Melbourne producer Escape Artist, who recently released the Bushfire Relief EP.
The EP is made of "unreleased b-sides," but it's surprisingly coherent. Each track is club-ready, ranging from deep house ("Walk To Paradise") to breakbeat ("Rave Material," "Melatonin") and electro ("Mirage"). Most of the tunes are slightly melancholic, including "Antares," which fades out with an emotional harmony. But "Walk To Paradise" ends the release on a positive tone, with cheerful shouts, warm chords and straightforward groove.
