Chest-rattling, bass-heavy, undeniably effective DJ weapons from five new artists.
A weighty, psychedelic dubstep number from main(void) opens the record, fittingly titled "Microdot." Its huge bassline will likely be the main draw, but it's main(void)'s deft percussive flourishes that really bring it home. Delo offers up a hefty piece of 130 BPM jungle, complete with massive breakbeats and dubbed-out patios. "Muter," by Premise, is drum & bass with a footwork-inspired pulse. The four-on-the-floor pulse of Alex R's "z50" separates it from the other tracks, though it, too, is littered with breakbeats. The EP closes with "Slalom" by An Avrin, its slinky, descending melody and broken rhythm ending this brilliantly fun release on a high note.
