  • Australian electronic artist Endorphin A.K.A Eric Chapus serves up Shake It his Fifth album and first since his recent move to Fly Music through Universal Distributions. Reminiscent of his previous Albums, Embrace, Skin, and AM/PM and more recently Seduction the CD runs along the digital arm of electro fused beats with a light ambient feel. Moving to Australia from France back in 84" his first album Embrace was thrust into the spotlight by Triple J's unearthed in 96", since then his representation of Aussie electronic music has seen him tour with some of the more predominant names in music such as Massive Attack, Portishead, Faithless and been a headlining act for the Homebake and other festivals around Aus. With an impressive track record and taking home Album of the Year at the "Australian Dance music awards" Endorphin has also been nominated for "Best Male Artist" at the ARIA Awards in 2000. Being such a versatile artist, National Geographic has also commissioned him to write the music for 26 episodes. Shukran the original voice of vocalist "Vassy" combines lush sounds with her smooth vocals combining the two show's what good electronic music can come out of Aus. Picking up the pace is To the Rhythm is your pretty standard flour to the floor tune described as " Bollywood for the Dance floor". The Third in three collaborations with local Sydney resident, signer and songwriter Shelley Rosenberg, Sounding like a 80's tune that is all so familiar on many CD which everyone seems to be trying their hand at, but with a nice disco twist. Over and Over an apparent tribute to Donna summer endorphin always wanting to do a tribute to her. Blending middle eastern elements and the sounds taken from his extensive touring schedule, Yeah man, Shake It and Rocking with the People are obviously dance floor orientated tracks with nice little guitar riffs and vocal samples placed throughout. Inside your Mind written for his daughter Lila, ends up being a nice subtle end to the CD once again collaborating with Shelley Rosenberg. ending the album on the ambient side of things with plush vocal tunes and a peaceful feel taking the album to a close. With endorphin's reputation as one of Australia's leading electronic artist, his latest release Shake it doesn't feel as deep like his other albums with the serenity lacking that he is so well known for, it sit's in between party tunes and nice ambient ballads it would of been nice to see him venture either one way or the other, never the less a CD worth a listen. 01.
