Ed209 - Infectious Remixes

  • Wireframe record’s label owner Ed209 is the man responsible for the massive tear-out tune Infectious which was featured on Tayo’s Beats & Bobz CD. When Ed209 was enlisted to help Ollywood run Hardcore Beats, he took Infectious with him and asked the breakbeat massive to provide a remix. Many refused saying that the original couldn’t be made any better however they managed to find a couple of producer who were willing to give it a try. Side A. Distortionz remix Distortionz opens up with a rolling tear-out breakbeat and haunting string samples that make the listener feel as if they were in a horror flick. During the first beat drop, the bassline that made the original so popular makes its first appearance, however this time gets beefed up with a massive rave synth hook and continues to scream and wail like it did in the original. Side AA ILS remix The most unexpected remix comes from breakbeat veteran ILS who pacifies the angry mood and turns Infectious into a mellow acid-house meets breakbeat groover laden with a gentle piano melody, female vocal samples and a didgeridoo on acid. The original bassline makes its appearance again in the middle of the piece – it’s also good to note that both times the actual bassline is untouched (which says something about the original in the first place). Two awesome mixes of the one tune and both artists chosen have shown that they can take a wicked tune and have really varied interpretations of it.
