Distortionz vs Deep Impact - Rock Da House/Demonz

  • The second release from new breaks label Bass Invaderz is a dream team up between Distortionz (Jason Nightall) and Deep Impact (Mark East). Distortionz has been relishing in his recent success of having his Onion Rings VIP selected for EA's Fifa Streets program and also a soon to be released remix of Ed209's Infectious on Hardcore Beats. Deep Impact on the other hand has had a string of releases on labels like Supercharged, Plastic Raygun and is currently basking in the glory of his Spanish Tune co-produced with the Autobots. Side A. Rock Da House Rock Da House features a tear-out style breakbeat, loaded with tech stabs. The first big beatdrop introduces a growling, heavy metal meets tear-out drum'n'bass bassline with classic hip hop vocal samples dropped in for good measure. It's simple in its approach - the bassline riff is the main feature throughout the tune - yet is quite deadly in its execution. Towards the end, the bassline is removed to allow a DJ friendly percussive break take control. Side AA. Demonz Demonz on the other hand is a much more sinister tune. As with Rock Da House it opens up with another hard hitting breakbeat, then goes into a beatdrop to introduce the bassline - this time on a more serious and slightly acidy tip. The maniacal horror movie voices affirm the darkness of the tune and to provide some variation, Distortionz and Deep Impact go effects crazy with lots of flangers and filters used for good measure. If I had to pick a tune out of these two, it would easily be Rock Da House simply for its massive bassline.
