Bushy - Hiya

  • For those devoid of the know, Catskills is the label to watch for cheeky cheery breakbeat adventures. Their latest long player comes from Bushy (aka. Jim Bingham) and goes by the title of Hiya! For lovers of smoother, slower breaks that haven’t lost their dancefloor appeal the album is a corker. The grooves are lush and have a classy swinging feel to them, Oh Pudding being a prime example. Influences from old school jazz and funk – Jim citing outfits like Parliament and Herbie Hancock – are fused with new electronic sounds, dirty bass, cuts and samples with sensational results. The album really grows on you after a few listens as the grooves permeate the soul, however a few of the tracks meander a little. Silky sexy groove laden tunes from the Brighton breaks connection.
