Screwface - Phat Bass/Monte

  • Share
  • After displaying their production prowess for labels such as Broke and Cut & Run, Screwface make their debut on Hardcore Beats with a platter of bass heavy tunes highlighting the pair's colourful musical taste. Side A. Phat Bass Continuing the Hardcore Beats trend on releases, Phat Bass is a tear-out breaks meets drum'n'bass number with drum break and bass line switch-ups occuring everytime the vocal sample goes through a transition of yelling out "break" and "cut". A haunting synth melody adds to the dark appeal of the tune and a deep male vocal instructs the listener to "stop and listen to the phat bass". Side B. Monte On a somewhat different vibe, Monte sees the Screwface pair mash together the sounds of flamenco latin melodies with dark tear-out bassline breakbeat. The tune opens up with a classic intro featuring a familiar breakbeat and vocal stabs before breaking down into a flamenco guitar solo. After a buildup, a heavy bassline is introduced and is accompanied by female choral samples and a trademark Screwface break. As witnessed by the masses of Parklife attendees during the Freestyler's set (with Matt Cantor frantically flailing his arms about!)
