- Matt Cutler has always worn his influences on his sleeve, and "Waterfall Reverse" is no different. Much like his most classic work—think the Galaxy Garden or Levitate albums—the track breezes through punchy harmonic riffs incorporating classic breakbeats, shimmering pads and extended piano chords. Despite “Waterfall Reverse" clocking in at seven minutes and 12 seconds, Cutler speeds through buildups, climaxes and drops—almost to a fault, as the track could have developed its sudden 303 acid breakdown for longer. Still, it's a fun ride, with the second half letting an ascending synth arpeggio just swell against the sounds of chimes and the seashore before ultimately letting it slowly wash away. It’s one of Cutler’s best moments as a sound designer, almost painting the image of a waterfall moving backwards on a listener’s head.
