Tiesto feat. Maxi Jazz - Dance For Life

  • Dutch trance superstar Tiesto returns to the production fold with another stadium anthem to add to his repertoire. This time he's enlisted the edgy, chilling vocals of Faithless frontman Maxi Jazz, who in the past has shown a penchant for penned lyrics with a touch of social commentary. The result is a big trance number named after (and made for) an AIDS awareness project that should also appeal to non-trance fans. The Radio Edit of 'Dance For Life' is a bassline driven number with heavy emphasis on the dramatic vocals of Maxi Jazz that would work well mid-set in a stadium atmosphere. Minor electronic sounds add variation, but the sound is distinctively Tiesto. Definitely a tune made by Tiesto for Tiesto. The 12-inch mix is stronger, deeper, more musical trance powered by crunchy beats and a steady echoing synth. The rhythm combines with the vocals to create a more penetrating remix that should get bodies moving in the club just as the night's started. This one is proper trance. The slow mix, as the name suggests, centres around a bongo drum and a slower, hollow rhythm. It's a versatile cocktail of melody and electronic sounds that'd be equally at home as a set starter or in a Sunday chill-out in a bar, but will still get hands in the air. Newcomer Fonzerelli uses his signature punchy basslines and bouncy build ups to give the track the kick up the bum that was lacking in the previous rerubs. The Global Experience Remix/Fonzerelli Instrumental is much like the Fonzerelli Remix minus the vocals, but the latter gets my thumbs up due to a vigorous housey feel that overrides the bleak vocals present on the other remixes. 'Dance4Life' is not one of Tiesto's better productions, and most of the remixes do little to improve on the original, but it's probably the underlying social message which will lift it off the shelves and into the bags of DJs. Essentially, this is another gimmicky trance anthem that pulls just the right number of heartstrings to earn its place on dancefloors.
