  • I've only recently become aware of Djs @ Work but and was put off a little by the initial candy factor. After this vinyl hitting me in the head I decided that I held respect for this German trio for putting out some quality tracks. This album is ready to be dropped, broken, beat and cut into any set or just listened on the way for a big night out. For those who pick up the cd versions of 'Activated' and 'Low Noize' I think it's well worth checking out these versions if you can get your hands on them. 'Activated' is what I would call a classic example of a trance track that has tight variations, bridges and drops. The bass on this track is very very tight, perfect for club, event or car audio. It's this kind of bass that I love in trance tracks, it's not too reverby to be junglist (respect to jungle off course) but it's not stupid enough to be on Wild cds with the whistles and whatever other crap the cokehead who mixed it could get their hands on. Dj's will appreciate the mix-in-mix-out opportunities on all these tracks. 'I feel free' is a great track with crazed out synth and bass, again tight as can be. This will no doubt either have been hitting the dancefloors at Sublime or at some outdoor events or will be. It reminds me of those nights where you think the dj has pulled of the greatest mix of all time, then you realise it's the same track, then you just give up and keep dancing. Great track, the vocals reminiscent of old school rave, I think this is why I like these Germans 'Don't stop and listen' is definately the darkest of all tracks on this vinyl. It comes in with faint vocals of a guy saying the title, then breaks and synths out into a crazy percussion build. While I'm aware I have described half a million trance songs, if I had to take one over the other this would be it. 'Low noize' is a 4.5 minute track that screams rave. This is a energy song, and I don't know if some people would call it hard energy, I don't even know what this term means anymore but if it came down to my definition this would definately be it. It doesn't really get into the business till 3 minutes into the track. So I expect djs might like to choose to mix it in and use it for about 3minutes total before mixing out to something a little softer, this is definately one to make the floor JUMP. 'A part of me' is really mellow compared to the rest of the tracks, I would say it would feature at some place for recovery or the 5-6am mark. .. Well.. who am I kidding some places will still be kicking the hardest stuff at 6am, but this track is just as chilled as a track this fast and heavy on the bass as it could be. 'Someday' extended mix. Ha if you've heard this song you don't need me to tell you it's a classic and if you like trance you should love it too. It drops perfectly into the tweaked out vocal that is a new spin on old rave tekneeks of bassing out in melody with the voice and dropping junglist percussion. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong there, I like to make up my own terms sometimes.) Advice; Crank the bass and don't listen to it before bedtime. Verdict; If you like trance, beg, steal, whore, borrow to get this vinyl, can't get the vinyl get the cd.
