Side A. Dominate
Upon listening to this song, it seems as if the Twins have been listening to the Plump DJ's Big Groovy Fucker a lot as it has that racy, speedway kind of feel. What is it with these types of breaks tracks? My guess is the energy they give off and the adrenalin really drives people on the dance floor to boogie down even harder. Fast paced hi-hat cymbals and breakbeats riding on top of a thick and phat bass make this track "dominate" any venue. Fuck happy hardcore this sound is, and should have been, the rave music to rock any stadium or venue.
Side B. Feelin Kinda Strange
Getting into more of that funky breaks sound that Fingerlickin' Records have made so popular, this funky little number laced with a female vocal (or a high pitched falsetto male vocal) strays away from the stadium rocking sound of Dominate and makes a great B-side. Basically if you don't like one side, then flip it over. A bit of a disco revival with some current production techniques and mentality, it's time to put on the platforms, frills, flares, afro and shake your booty 'til the next Drummatic release.
It's good to see Fingerlickin not straying away from the funky breaks sound that made them so popular, however it is even better to see them pushing forth breaks in all shapes and sizes. If the quality of the sampler is like this then I can't wait to hear what the album sounds like in it's entirety.
