  • Hate. It's a strong word, and it's a brave soul that adopts it as their sole marketing slogan (especially in all-uppercase form). But then, when you're in the business of polishing up classic darkside hardcore jingles, mass exposure is never going to be a major concern. And besides, if you've got the balls to do the anonymous thing properly, you might as well be a bit nasty about it. Or, in the case of this 12-inch, evil. It's the kind of thing that'll have fans of early Bizzy B, Juicebox-era A Guy Called Gerald and Zomby's more regressive emanations salivating furiously. The A-side, "Hello Darkness," does exactly what it says on the tin: it's dark, nasty 'ardkore music—most likely an original from '92-ish—tweaked, ruthlessly, to meet the needs of contemporary dance floors. Clanking beats, thunderous bass and filthy smears of twisted synth make for a thoroughly rank listening experience, and, thanks to textbook hands-up rave pads, a strangely euphoric one too. B-side "Bad Organs" takes the inverse approach, sounding quintessentially '09, but with its eye firmly on the naughties. And naughty is most definitely the word when shuffling bass, junglist breaks and gigantic, toppling organs leads are what you're dealing with (not to mention some preposterously boomy subs). If it doesn't tear the dance apart, nothing will. After all, whoever says rave's dead deserves a bit of HATE.
