  • When i arrived at club Vinyl in NYC for Luis Diaz and Dave Seaman, i was pleasantly surprised by what i saw. It was not yet that crowded, and Diaz was getting things going with some nice progressive house. However, as Diaz slowly built things up, the place started to fill out a bit and it became fairly crowded. Ever since the demise of Twilo, the only Club that was been getting the big international progressive talent (yea yea i know NYC has a scene of its own, but im talkin bout the GU type stuff). This has been rather unfortunate, since vinyl does not really have the capacity for dj's and events like this, as i noticed last saturday with the dance floor packed to the gills. In addition, Dany Tenaglia's friday nights at vinyl have been overcrowded since then, much to the dismay of many regulars. But back to Luis Diaz, he built it up quite nicely during the time i saw him (some people had complaints of his tracks pre-12:30). At 2:00am Dave came on, and continued right where Diaz left off. I had seen a lot of complaints about seaman's recent sets on message boards, but i thought he did a good job at Vinyl. He kept the energy quite well the whole time (this despite my exhaustion from an insane tenaglia night the previous night, but thats another review). One complaint several people had was that he played a lot of "older" tracks, such as Xpress-2 - muzkizum (a Twilo fav of mine from the spring), but i thought his track slection was good. He did a great job keeping everyone moving and the atmosphere of the place up. The following are some tracks that were spotted: brannacchio and aisher - a lovely day Iio - rapture (deep dish mix) TWICE Evolution - walk on fire dj tiesto - flight 643 (orkidea mix) dj tiesto - flight 643 (original mix) Saints and Sinners - Pushin' Too Hard Satoshi Tomiie - Up In Flames Fatboy Slim - A song for Shelter (chemical bros mix) New Order - Crystals Depeche Mode - I feel loved (dt mix) Kamaya Painters - Wasteland (Chab) BPT - Moody (Futurshock) planet funk - chase the sun Dido- Take my hand Rollo & Sister Bliss remix) FSOL - Papua New Guinea - Satoshi remix James Holden - One for You (brannacchio and aisher remix) x press 2 - smoke machine x press 2 - muzikizum tarentella - karma (praha mix) Superchumbo - The Revolution (Trendroid Mix) Tbombra Vira - Drums Come Alive scumfrog - we love you (props to all the NBers) I could have done without the tiesto, but i guess it did fit in somewhat :) all in all, a very fun night, and its nice to see made records continuing to bring good progressive to New York City.
