- Sticky, the man known for bringing Ms. Dynamite to the fore with 2001’s 2-step/UK Garage smash Booo!, has come back with MC Viper spitting venomous rhymes on what could be 2003’s 2-step/UK Garage MC track of the year. For those that are familiar with the scene will know that Viper features on Jameson’s Selecta (Urban Hero) – another slamming track!
Side A. I’m On The Mic
Sticky kicks off the party vibe on this track with some Cha-cha horn samples before introducing the synth bassline he seems to use in a lot of his tracks and of course a highly syncopated beat that 2-step/UK Garage is well known for. It’s quite infectious and should call for a few rewinds.
Side B. Instrumental
Usually when you have the word “Instrumental” on a vinyl it means it’s the same track without the vocals added in, not so it seems in this case. The flipside is a raw Sticky tune with a melodic bassline using a lot of percussion, especially at the beginning (featuring a very nice use of cowbells). Plenty of synth stabs and build-ups however I’m not too sure whether this will work on the dancefloor as well as the A side.
