Upcoming Indian DJ LoboCop drops an hour-long mix journeying through the various shades of acid, in anticipation of A Guy Called Gerald's gig in India later this February. It's a shot in the arm for the country's emerging electronic music community to host the British pioneering artist in Bombay.

LoboCop is the DJ avatar of Kenneth Lobo - journalist, promoter and co-founder of house & techno label, District Fifty, based out of Bombay. As a DJ, he’s drawn to the funkier, groovier side of things - all the music he plays out is in service to the dance floor. And his unique sound, which marries funk, soul, boogie, disco and house, is unmistakable. Taking inspiration from DJs like Motor City Drum Ensemble and Jackmaster, LoboCop is a genre-agnostic selector, moving back and forth, in and out of several boundaries with ease. His first gig, remarkably, was at Berlin’s famed club Kater Holzig in July 2012 and since then he has returned to Germany each year to play at smaller venues with good sound systems and even better vibes. Closer home, he regularly DJs as part of the Bombay- based District Fifty collective, which he co-runs with Indian DJ royalty Kris Correya (the man behind Zenzi and J49, both iconic Indian venues). But his real passion is to get clubbers in India out of their comfort zones, listening and dancing to music they have rarely heard before.
