Trentemøller, Stephen Beaupre and Echospace will all play at the Canadian festival's Windy City edition.
Expanded from a single party last year, the 2011 edition of Avant_Mutek: Chicago will span four showcases, featuring a mix of international talent (including the return of Canadian producer Stephen Beaupré) and local performers, in collaboration with the city itself as well as promoters React, Meiotic, and Abstract Science.
The festivities kick off with a free experimental concert at the city's Cultural Center on Thursday, with sets from Beaupre's group Gemmiform featuring The Banjo Consortium and fellow Canadian Thierry Gauthier. That night at The Mid, Danish favorite Trentemøller will play live with a full band. Dorit Chrysler and Decimal, who last year released an album on Soma Records, will also play live. On Friday, Beaupre will play a more danceable live set at Bottom Lounge alongside local artists Frankie Vega and Sevron, who will handle the decks for a special multimedia DJ set.
The mini-festival wraps up on Saturday night at Smart Bar, where German techno mastermind Monolake will perform a "live surround set" (more info on that here). He'll be joined by dub techno duo Echospace, also playing live, with support from Chicago DJ's Karl Meier and Chris Widman.
Avant_Mutek will then head to New York in May for a collaboration with The Bunker, details for which will be announced later this month.
